About him
I consider myself to be a bit, but not too different. Just imagine a man that isn't into watching sport . . . . or shopping.
Years ago I ran and completed three sub 4 marathons in 5 months. I still think about making a comeback for one more. I took part in the Co-operation North cycle to and from Belfast on 4 occasions in the 80's before cycling became as popular as it is nowadays. I also rowed and play squash (badly). I am still interested in keeping fit and nowadays I like nothing more than to spend the day walking in the mountains of Wicklow (known as the Garden of Ireland).
Although I don't read a lot I do remember being on a holiday in the lighthouse keepers cottage on Arranmore Island reading the book "Are You Somebody?" written by the late Nuala O'Faoiláin. Reading such a classic inspired me to write a book myself on a subject that I know and am passionate about!
Travel is my thing or was at least until February of this year. Before the restrictions I travelled a LOT and although I don't quite match the phrase from the Martini ad of years ago that used the strap line "any time, any place, any where", I'm not too far off it.
I consider myself to be adaptable and hope that I am learning to become (even more) "grounded" during the current world events. I prefer the expression emotionally aware to emotionally intelligent.
I am a positive person by nature and tend to say it as I see it (which I know may not always appreciated). I consider the two most important attributes of my work are that I be empathetic and non-judgemental. If I had a wish it would be that the world would be a fairer place for all to live.
I like any thing nautical and all things water orientated interest me whether it be shipping, the sea, lighthouses, the sound of water, enjoying a sea view or dipping my toe in internet dating!

I have no idea of who or what the female version of me might be like but it might be interesting to see and meet a variation on that theme.
I would like the person I meet to be comfortable in who they are and what they have evolved to become. We all strive to be ourselves in a world that is attempting to make us all to be the same.
It would be great if my match were themselves, possibly a bit quirky, feminine, moderate in their views, confident in who they are, interesting in exercising, as interested in travelling and as important interested in getting to know me.
